CoG Blood Bowl Field
The following is a quick guide to the creation of the CoG Blood Bowl table. Okays it's large guide in that their are lots of pictures. It's quick in that there is little to read. The table will be used in the upcoming City of Gamers Blood Bowl league.
Here's the pitch. It was measured out to be slightly larger than a standard blood bowl field. To allow for the sidelines to be used for reserves. Made from a typical piece of foam board the had sand glued on in places. Then it was sprayed black with foam safe spray paint. The field was then painted green and while the paint was still wet 4 different types of flock were sprinkled on. Once that had time to dry the entire board was sprayed with a watery, pvc glue mix. Dried and then sprayed again. This seals the flocks and prevents them from rubbing off. Once the last coating was dry the sanded areas were drybrused with brown paints to give a dirt look.

What football field in complete without a logo in the middle. What better to fit the City of Gamers than a Cog. This I sized a picture to about 5" in diameter on the computer and printed it onto card stock. Using an exacto knife the cog was cut out leaving a stencil that was used to mark the center of the field.

Each square on a blood bowl field is roughly 1 1/8'. Fifteeen squares acorss the field and 26 squares long. After locating the center of the field I measured out and made the proper spacing marks on the board edge. Once marked a push pin was stuck in.

String was then carefully stung across the boards around each pin. It's important to just go around the metal pin part as to keep the string as close to center as possible.

Once complete I used a permanent marker to mark the intersections where the string crossed. This complete the grid and marked the playing spaces on the field.

The field lines and end zones were painted on using white paint. Later I realized I forgot the mid field line and went back to add it.

Next up was to build a Knocked Out room and one for Dead & Injured Players. I opted not to make one for Reserves as those players can stand on the side lines of the field. The rooms were made from Hirst Arts blocks. Painted black, drybrushed with 2 colors of grey then a white. For added detail a blue strip was added around one and red for the other. A coffin was made and put in the Dead & Injured rooms while those knocked out got a water bucket. The signs for each side were made from balsa wood. The Dead and injured were giving skull and cross bones shield icons as well.

Next up is the score board. The layout was designed on paper and then foam was cut out. The plan is to combine both players score, the game half, and player turns on one score board. Sheet magnet was cut to size and stuck to the foam board. After spraying the whole thing with foam safe black paint it was detail time. The bricks give the board weight and keep it upright. Token pieces will have magnets as well to help them stick to the score board.

Here's a look at the finished field with a team on it.
